Harold R. Wing, CEO, President and Founder, of Little Giant Ladder Solutions was named a winner by professional services firm Ernst & Young LLP for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year(R) 2005 Awards in Salt Lake City in the consumer products category. Mr. Wing was selected from 23 finalists in Utah by an independent panel of judges comprised of local business, academic and community leaders and announced at an awards banquet on June 30th at the Salt Palace Convention Center.
From its modest beginning in the family carport, Mr. Wing created Wing Enterprises and directed the growth of his new company into an international, multi-million dollar manufacturing and marketing corporation. In the 1970's, he immediately recognized the potential of a German painter's ladder prototype, brought it to the United States where he named it The Little Giant and single-handedly sold over a half-million dollars of product the first year. Since that time, Mr. Wing has patented seven improvements on Little Giant Ladder Systems and successfully marketed three special-purpose ladders, a scaffold system and introduced a number of innovative ladder accessories. Wing Enterprises employs 800 people and in 2005 revenues are projected to be over 40% higher than the 2004 record-breaking sales figures.
Mr. Wing will be eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur Of The Year 2005 national program. Winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, Calif. on November 19, 2005.
