June is a good month to throw ladders up on the outside of your house and give your home a fresh coat of paint. But first...a few do-it-yourself ladder safety tips from the Little Giant Ladder experts:
The ladder's base should rest at a distance one-quarter its vertical height from the wall. (Huh? Forget the math: A 16-ft ladder should rest 4 feet from the wall; a 12-ft. ladder should rest three feet from the wall; an 8-ft. ladder should rest two feet from the wall).
Also, do yourself a favor and get one of those tool-and-paint holder attachments (work platform available here at Little Giant Discount Ladder) that fits on the ladder.
And never, never, never try that hop-the-ladder-along-the-wall trick from "Animal House." Just like Bluto you will fall; unlike Bluto, you'll probably break some bones.
